Having too many items on your key ring can wear out your ignition switch and ignition key prematurely. While driving down the road your keys will bounce around with the movement of your car. One way to reduce the weight of your key ring is to purchase a pull-a-part key ring and separate your keys when you are ready to drive.
Many people get spoiled by the use of a keyless entry remote for their automobile. It is a good idea to use your keys in your door locks occasionally to keep the dirt and grime from building up in your door locks. You never know when your remote or car battery may go dead and you have to use your key to gain entry.
Most people feel comfortable with 2 keys for their cars. However on most cars equipped with a transponder key you will have to pay extra to have that key programmed to your car if you lose one. Many domestic automobiles have on board programming ONLY if you have 2 keys. Fees for programming with diagnostic equipment could range from $20-$100.
Having your locks changed every time you lose an employee can be a hassle and much investment after a while. Options to control your rekeys to a minimum can be controlled by a battery operated keyless entry system, or by purchasing a restricted key system.
Lubricating you locks with oil based lubes like WD-40 can cause your cylinders to gum up with dirt after a while. Use Dri-Film lubes such as Super-Lube to clean out your lock cylinders.
Having DO NOT DUPLICATE on your keys does not necessarily mean those particular keys won't be duplicated. Stop duplication by purchasing a restricted key system such as Medeco, Assa, Primus, or JS.
When you are having difficulty using your car key because it won't open your door or turn your car on don't go and just make a duplicate of that key as that is exactly what you are getting, a duplicate. We can originate a new key back to factory specs and a lot of times this will cure your problem.
